Week 10 | Ephesians 4 | John Merchant
“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”― Eph. 4:1
"Calling establishes our identity by showing whose we are... Calling saves us from inventing the meaning of our lives, by enlisting us in God's grand work of transforming the world."― Paul Stevens
Watch this video where Eugene Peterson speaks about cultivating vocation
Use this diagram to help guide your decisions about what to do with your time.
Is there something from today's readings or teaching where you sensed God speaking to you, or us?
Looking back on your life, what factors directed you in choosing the various vocations you have worked in (paid and unpaid)? Did you ever just 'fall in' to something, and end up doing something unexpected? What do you make of that?
Consider your working now. Do you feel settled in what you are doing? Do you hear anything calling you to change, or to do your present things in a different way?
A closing prayer:
Father, thank you for being with us
in the space between who we want to be and who we really are.
Refocus us today,
so you may lead us forward into your purposes on this earth,
for the life of the world and the honour of your name. Amen
